The May 13th, 2025 Town Council Meeting update on the Town Hall Building Project:
At the Regular Town Council Agenda (monthly public meeting) May 13th at 2:00 PM, the Town's contracted architectural firm (CPZ Architects Inc.) presented comparative 2-floor and 3-floor versions of pending design configurations for our "Town Hall & Community Center" project. The Town Council reviewed the presentation of updated floor plans and renderings at the public meeting. After they received much public comment and discussion on relevant parameters, the Council voted (5/0) to proceed with a 2-floor configuration in the 10,000-11,000 sq. ft. range. The presentation of the Architects signature designs in 2 vs 3 floor versions, focused on size and scale metrics, allowing the Council to move forward to the next phase task orders toward formal building design, technical configuration, engineering and development of construction bid documents for soliciting eligible construction companies by RFP. Please reference the latest "2-Floor Version" presentation visuals linked below.
The April 3, 2025 Public Workshop - CPZ Architecture presents New Town Hall Conceptual Design, Floor Plans & Renderings:
On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Town's Architect Joe Barry and Maria Zappas-Porter (CPZ Architecture, Inc.) presented extensive conceptual design, floor plans, elevations and renderings for our proposed new South Palm Beach Town Hall & Community Center. The elected Town Council still has numerous public meetings and legislative process to enact final decisions, steps and actions in the redevelopment process. Once designs, scale and mass, site works, engineering and budgetary parameters are finalized for the new Town Hall project, additional RFP bidding will occur to select a best construction operator entity to build and deliver the new facility to final fruition.
A new facility will be constructed on the site of the Town's existing Town Hall property. This is the only public property within the Town's jurisdiction, available for the purpose of redevelopment, updating and modernizing Town government operations, community-based programming and future expansion for community centered events and gatherings. Stay tuned to our public calendar for meeting updates and opportunity to weigh in on the amenities important to you our residents. The project information is usually updated and discussed at every public meeting of the Town Council and public comments are also taken at all scheduled Town public meetings. Hope to see our residents and interested parties participate in the development timeline and options and attend the "ribbon cutting" ceremonies at a date to be determined in the near future.
Here is a link on our website to the May 4, 2022 Town Hall Conditions photographic study (produced under the previous Town Administration) illustrating the extensive deterioration and conditions of the current Town Hall building, which is actually made up from 3 separate additions spanning the 1970s - 1990s. Note renovation of our existing facility will exceed the 50/50 rule of Florida Building Code and the newly adopted FEMA Floodplain NAVD minimum base floor elevations, as adopted by Town Ordinance in 2024, requiring bringing all aspects of the building up to current relevant codes for compliance. The current Administration has made ongoing critical and necessary maintenance repairs to essential parts of the building (roof, plumbing, mechanical, etc.) to keep it operationally functioning until such time the new building, a Town Council stated priority, is commenced upon and completed.
